Project Description

The Dominion Energy Innovation Institute was the first construction within Clemson University Restoration Institute’s Energy Systems Campus. Located within a decommissioned U.S. Navy warehouse atop a rehabilitated brownfield site, the 82,000 SF LEED Gold certified facility houses the world’s most advanced wind-turbine drivetrain testing facility capable of full-scale, highly accelerated mechanical and electrical testing of advanced drivetrain systems for wind turbines.

In addition to a complete renovation and equipment integration of the existing building, test equipment, and site infrastructure, the extensive reinforcement of the drivetrain testing foundations required a total of 2,650 cubic yards of concrete and 900 tons of rebar, resting on top of 115 seventy foot-deep piles.

Scope of Services
